At Neurogenesis, we understand the significance of retaining or regaining independence through driving. Our Occupational Therapy driving Assessments are completed first "in-clinic" then "on-road". We assess vision, movement and thinking. If necessary, we recommend car modification solutions and further driving lessons.
Our goal is to empower individuals to continue or resume driving with the assurance that they can navigate the roadways safely, allowing independence in daily life.
An off-road assessment will take approximately 1.5hours and will screen your vision, physical range of motion, strength, sensation and cognitive function. Off-road assessments can be completed in your own home or in our clinic.
An on-road assessment will take approximately 1-2 hours and is completed in a dual control car with a qualified Driving Instructor and the Occupational Therapist in the back of the vehicle.
Following off and on-road assessment you may require vehicle modifications and a driving remediation program to get back on the road safely with a vehicle set up for your specific needs.
You will need written medical clearance to drive with a driving instructor prior to an on-road assessment. Transport and Main Roads Corporate Forms F3712 - Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driver
